Oil painting and charcoal. Fernando O'Connor
Fernando O'ConnorThe Embassy of Argentina in Ireland presents this exhibition of painter Fernando O’Connor. A show of his large format works, at Instituto Cervantes Dublin Exhibition Room space. The personal genealogy merges with the artistic one in this sample of the Argentine artist of Irish descent Fernando O’Connor, who for this first exhibition in Ireland, has selected a set of portraits of artists that are both reference and testimony. A sort of selective family tree in which two teachers, the Spanish Diego Velázquez and the Irishman Francis Bacon, continue to dialogue in O'Connor today; in his blood and in his brushes, with oil and charcoal, which are a summary and foundation of his pictorial language.
O’Connor begins his training as a painter in 1986, in the Prilidiano Pueyrredón Fine Arts College to then transfer to Sociedad de Estímulo de Bellas Artes (Society to Promote the Fine Arts in Argentina) where he continued to develop his skills as an autodidact. From 1997, exhibits professionally in different Argentinian galleries and abroad. He currently lives and works in Buenos Aires.
His works are included in the collections of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Buenos Aires, in Fundación Mundo Nuevo and Daniel Maman Fine Art Gallery as well as in the Huntington Art Gallery (University of Texas, Austin, USA), Le Centre D'Art Baie-Saint-Paul (Quebec, Canada), University of ESSEX, in their Collection of Latino American Art and in Plus One Gallery (UK).
