Experience the raw passion of traditional flamenco and experienced wisdom of these incredible artists as they transport you to a magical plane seldom experienced outside of Spain.

NELIDA TIRADO hailed “magnificent and utterly compelling” by the New York Times, Tirado began her formal training at the Ballet Hispanico of New York at the age of six. Barely out of her teens, she was invited to tour the U.S. with José Molina of Bailes Españoles and work as a soloist in Carlota Santana’s Flamenco Vivo. Tirado served as a soloist and dance captain of the María Pagés Dance Company and Antonio El Pipa Dance Company, performing at prestigious flamenco festivals and on television in Spain and throughout France, Italy, UK, Germany and Japan. She has performed in Carmen with the Metropolitan Opera of NY, the World Music Institute’s Gypsy Caravan 1 and Noche Flamenca and was the featured flamenco star in River Dance on Broadway and touring companies.

PEDRO CORTÉS comes from a family of Spanish gypsy guitarists and began his studies with his father and the esteemed flamenco guitarist Sabicas. Having toured professionally since the age of 17, he is gaining international recognition as a soloist and composer. He has premiered his work En la oscuridad de las minas at the Teatro Albéniz in Madrid and had works premiered by the Carlota Santana Spanish Dance Company at the Joyce Theater in New York. He has written two books on flamenco, El Dron del faraón and Cruzando el charco, published by the American Institute of Guitar. Cortés is artistic director of his own flamenco group as well as musical director of the flamenco group A Palo Seco. Cortés is a third generation flamenco guitarist and uses the experience passed down to him by his family to maintain the purity of flamenco while creating new compositions.

JOSÉ MORENO. Son of famous flamenco artists Estrella Morena and Pepe de Málaga, José began his flamenco career during his childhood. Since then, José has been invited to perform in various companies and with distinguished artists such as Manolete, Pastora Galván, Pedro Cortés, Omayra Amaya, Roberto Castellón, Chuscales, Jose Luis Rodriguez, Carmen Ledesma, Jesús Montoya, Curro Cueto, Amparo Heredia, Adrián Galia, Ángel Muñoz, Belén Maya, Chano Domínguez and Jorge Pardo, among many others.

JOSÉ CORTÉS FERNÁNDEZ was born in the south of France in 1974 to an important gypsy family from Almería. At the age of ten, Jose began his career in Jerez de la Frontera where he won the "premio del joven aficionado del cante flamenco"(Young Flamenco Singer Prize) accompanied on guitar by Terremoto. He was immersed in the world of flamenco with great artists such as Terremoto, Pansequito, Camarón de la Isla, Moraito Chico and Tomatito.

MAYA TATIANA represents the complete dancer. She earned a bachelor’s degree in dance from the University of Illinois. She has often traveled to Spain to live and study the art of flamenco. In 2000, she joined the faculty at the Old Town School of Music and also teaches at ARCC Ballet as well as her own flamenco studio in Chicago.
