Tribute to the 1968 student movement in Mexico. The Tlatelolco massacre. Kike Garpe

The Tlatelolco 1968 was a year marked by political and social movements around the world, a year of triumphs and tragedies. Apollo 8 revolved around the Moon, the protests against the Vietnam War, the Prague spring in Czechoslovakia, the university movements against Franco in Spain, French May, the assassinations of Martin Luther King Jr. and Robert F. Kennedy, and the Tlatelolco massacre among others.

For Mexico, the summer of 1968 was the birth of a new short student movement that peacefully fought for a justice and inclusive democracy. On October 2, 1968, 10 days before the opening of the Summer Olympic Games in Mexico City, police officers and military troops fired at a crowd of unarmed students in Plaza Tlatelolco. The massacre of students and civilians occurred. This event has marked a milestone in the modern history of Mexico that we cannot forget and to which we want to pay a special tribute commemorating its 52 years.
