Memory vs. Oblivion Paco Roca

Panoramic exhibition of artworks by Spanish Comics artist and illustrator Paco Roca entitled «Memory vs. Oblivion».

Paco Roca (Valencia, 1969) is one of the most famous Spanish strip cartoonist and illustrator with long experience in graphic novels and advertisement illustrations. Worthy of mentioning among his bibliography are: El Faro (2004), awarded for best realistic script; Arrugas (2007), National Comic Award 2008, Barcelona Comic Fair Award, Critics' Dolmen Award, Madrid Expocómic Award, Rome Romics Grand Award, Lucca Grand Guinigi Award, Japan Media Art Festival Excellence Award, nominated to the Eisner Awards; Las calles de arena (2008); El invierno del dibujante (2010), Prize of the Saló del Cómic de Barcelona, Madrid Expocómic Prize, Treviso Comic Book Festival Prize; the trilogy Un hombre en pijama, (Memorias de un hombre en pijama (2011)), Andanzas de un hombre en pijama (2014) and Confesiones de un hombre en pijama (2017), compilation of the pages that appeared in the newspaper Las Provincias and El País Semanal; Los surcos del azar (2013), Barcelona Comic Fair Award, Comic Zone Award, Critics Award, Zaragoza Comic Fair Award, Cartagena Mandarache Award, Finalist for the Book of the Year Award, Grand Prize Romics; La casa (2015), Comic Zone Award, Romics Grand Award, Comic Con Portugal Award, Star for the most outstanding comic by the French capital newspaper Le Parisien, and Eisner award; La encrucijada (2017), El tesoro del Cisne Negro (2018), Splash Sagunt Award, Heroes Comic Award in Madrid; El Dibuixat (2019) created for the walls of the Valencian Institute of Modern Art, IVAM.

In 2019 he received the Inkpot Award at the San Diego Comic Con. In the same year he was awarded the Valencia Gráffica prize, and in 2020 the Eisner Award for La Casa (The house) as the best foreign work published in the United States of America.

Some of his comics have been adapted into films, such as: Arrugas (Wrinkles) (Ignacio Ferreras, 2011) which won the Goya award for the best animated film and the best adapted screenplay; and Memorias de un hombre en pijama (Memoirs of a man in pajamas). Another film that is in the pipeline: El tesoro del Cisne Negro (The Treasure of the Black Swan), directed by Alejandro Amenábar.
