Encounter with Chilean poet Rosabetty Muñoz Fernando Lavoz

Chilean poet Rosabetty Muñoz, winner of the Pablo Neruda Ibero-American Poetry Prize 2024, one of the great poetic voices of current Spanish-American literature, will present at the Instituto Cervantes in Amman a recital of her poetry translated into Arabic by Jaafar Al Aluni and into English by Cynthia Steele and Anne Deeny.

Rosabetty Muñoz (Ancud, Chiloé, 1960). She is the author of numerous poetry books, including Canto de una oveja del rebaño, Técnicas para cegar a los peces, En lugar de morir, Sombras en el Rosselot, Misión Circular and Polvo de huesos. The Spanish Editorial «Sin Fin» has published in 2025 a volume that gathers her books Ratada, En nombre de ninguna, and Ligia.

Her work has contributed to make known the way of life, culture and landscapes of southern Chile from a perspective that combines tradition and new influences.

Since 2014, she has been a corresponding member for Ancud of the Chilean Academy of Language.
