Un lugar en el mundo

This film by Adolfo Aristarain was labeled a classic from the day of its release. It is a milestone in the career of a director who was already known for his ability to bend genres -especially crime films in their origins- to the demands of his style as a wonderful storyteller. In this case, the praise to idealism and the capacity of human beings to empathize and try to change the world managed to move all the viewers who saw it at the time. In the group of the four wonderful major actors, the geologist played by José Sacristán puts at the service of the adventure the enormous capacity of the Spanish actor to identify with characters whose line of reading is always commitment.

Synopsis: Ernesto takes a trip to the Argentine province of San Luis, to a remote village in a valley of San Luis, to remember his childhood and the circumstances that have determined his life: his parents had voluntarily exiled themselves from Buenos Aires to live in a peasant community. The arrival of a Spanish geologist, hired by the local cacique to look for oil, represents a threat to the peasants' way of life.
