We read Francisco Ayala
Francisco Ayala contributed to reinforcing the dialogue between the intellectuals who remained in Spain after the Civil War and those who were forced to leave. In 1976, he wanted to return "not to be seen, but to see how the country has changed" and to make his voice heard in that process. A great narrator, essayist, sociologist and columnist with a "very positive" idea of the Spanish Transition, he believed that the politics of consensus and dialogue "were a sign of maturity" of the Spanish people.
For these reading club session we will talk about a selection of opinion articles published in El País during 1991.
