TIERRA MADRE is based on Aidee Gonzalez’s true life, a woman living on the Mexican border town of Tecate, determined to raise her children with her female partner. This narrative feature makes the strong case of the strength, the independence and the solidarity that exits among women of all ages, and a mother's determination to provide a better future for her daughter.

It was shot in ten days with a cast of non-professional-actors with a budget of $2,000, and a crew of one. Best International Feature at the Out in the Desert Film Festival, Best Picture Chicago Reeling Film Festival, Special Jury Award Morelia Film Festival, Best Picture Barcelona Film Festival, Best Picture Cinesul Film Festival, Outstanding Achievement Williamsburg Film Festival, Honorable Mention New Jersey Film Festival, Golden Palm Mexico Film Festival and Silver Lei Award Honolulu Film Festival.
