Doñana National Park, a Spanish protected area to learn about nature and society
Doñana is a unique natural laboratory because of its large expanse of marshes and its series of dunes dotted with pine groves and scrub, stretching for 25 km along the Atlanthic coast. The marshes are feed by the Guadalquivir river. In autumn and winter the marshes and thousands of ephemerals pools are one of the most important European areas for waterfowl wintering. The Iberian lynx and the imperial eagle are the most emblematic species in the area. This Doñana fauna has attracted photographers, conservationists, scientists, and even pilgrims from all over the world. In this conference we will learn about its history and wildlife, as well as some of the main challenges it is facing.
