Gregoria
The woman at the center of this story may seem fragile, however, we may be looking at one of the last representatives of a lineage of powerful women who have sustained our communities for centuries. In the face of our world of runaway consumerism, she needs very little to live: a piece of land, a box in which to offer her merchandise, and a friendly conversation. Celia Viada follows her protagonist, an example of austerity and dignity, on her journey and portrays her with tenderness and respect, as demonstrated by the apt summary hidden in the acknowledgments at the end of the short film: "To all the Gregorias who manage to live as they please." No more, no less. Synopsis: Gregoria has a crooked back, strong hands, and black nails. She lives bent toward the earth and needs very little: a piece of land, some recycled plastic boxes, and a warm conversation at the end of the afternoon. [Source: Distribution with Glasses].
