El ojo y el muro

The Guatemalan film in this series combines elements of science fiction and thriller to create a dystopian vision of a not-so-distant future. Synopsis: Somewhere in Latin America in the late 2030s, the city of Gabhán has fallen to an oppressive and totalitarian government and is surrounded by a high, imposing wall, behind which its inhabitants cannot escape and live in squalor. Young Alba is part of a clandestine network that provides hospital care, food, and water to the needy. Lucre tries to convince Alba to leave Gabhán City with a group of illegal smugglers who smuggle people across the wall. However, Alba refuses to leave the hospital, so Lucre convinces Alba by lying to her. Without suspecting it, Alba embarks on a journey across the border that will change her life forever.
