Illustrate a tale: San Jorge y el Dragón

Illustrate a tale: San Jorge y el Dragón María Magariños Casal

The Instituto Cervantes in Sydney invites your little ones to get to know the tale of San Jorge y el Dragón and to discover why we give flower bouquets as gifts on National Book Day (Día del libro). The ultimate aim of this project is to make this fairy tale available in an electronic format and accompanied by the illustrations of the children that come along. A storyteller will introduce your sons and daughters to this wonderful tale with the help of some arts and crafts work and play acting. We hope to inspire them to draw up some marvellous creations once they´re back home.
The activity is developed in three days:

  • Saturday May 12: Day one of the project we´ll be introducing ourselves and getting to know the story the kids will be illustrating in the coming weeks. We´ll include some hands-on creative tasks in order to explain the tradition of gifting flowers on National Book Day ( Día del libro ) and they´ll be taking home all the materials necessary for them to get started on their own works of art.
  • Saturday May 19: Day two we´ll be admiring the drawings the children have brought in and joining them together to form a collection. We´ll use these illustrations as a way to enjoy and remember the wonderful tale of San Jorge.
  • Saturday May 26: On the final day we´ll be combining all the artworks and telling the story once again, this time while the little ones act out sections.

Kids from 5 to 10 years old.
