Kids Concert: Tribute to Cervantes

Kids Concert: Tribute to Cervantes Instituto Cervantes Sidney

The Instituto Cervantes Sydney will offer a children's concert in honor of Cervantes performed by Spanish Duo Belcorde in its new center and in St Gabriel's Catholic School in Bexley. This guitar and violin concert will be a performance that both children and adults will enjoy.

Duo belcorde consists of Manuel Briega, violin and Adrian Fernandez, Spanish guitar. Violin and Spanish guitar form a duo of great interest, thanks to the versatility of these two instruments, the timbre, melody and harmony of the same variety, and the perfect symbiosis that develops between them. Duo Belcorde has made numerous national and international tours, and activities carried out last year in Japan, Morocco and Turkey.

The concert consists of a selection of works of Spanish music composed between the seventeenth and twentieth centuries of G.Sanz, L. Boccherini, E.Granados, FGLorca, M.Falla, A.Álvarez, M.Quiroga, S. López Gozalo and M.Marquina composers. In addition, Duo Belcorde honors Miguel de Cervantes, in the fourth centenary of his death, with the work "Suite de Danzas Cervantinas" by composer Gaspar Sanz. It is the music of the time so dear to Cervantes.

The rest of the concert works are part of what is known as the Spanish musical nationalism. The element that determines the Spanish musical nationalism is the awareness of the richness of our folklore. Spanish composers create a new musical language where nationalist feelings run high, the restoration of being Spanish and searching the essence of our people.
