Benengeli 2025. International Week of Spanish Literature
The Benengeli festival is now in its fifth year.
We are talking about a unique event in the Spanish language, as its in-person and digital activities will take place over a week on 5 continents.
But it is also worth noting that Benengeli 2025 will focus on the 5 senses of human perception and their reflection in the literary process.
But it is also worth noting that Benengeli 2025 will focus on the five senses of human perception and their reflection in the literary process.
As we well know, the expressive use of these five senses generates aesthetic, formal, and political variations. Writing from sight, from touch, from what is heard, from what is tasted, from the trail of smells, is not only a technical exercise, but also an imaginative way of approaching and reworking themes such as totalitarianism, espionage; music, oral histories, the sound of catastrophes; scars, tattoos, the relationship with the body; gastronomy, famines; perfumes; the relationship with nature and the power of memory.
This year, 12 centers from the Cervantes network will participate in this major gathering, which will bring together prominent voices from the Spanish-language literary world. A landscape characterized by the aesthetic and generational plurality with which literature in our language approaches the reality of the 21st century.
Sydney, Seoul, Budapest, Brussels, Paris, Bucharest, Manchester, Madrid, Tunis, Sao Paulo, Brasilia, and Belo Horizonte will be the setting for these meetings, which will be joined by several cities in Oceania and America, which will offer activities prior to and during the festival.
More than 100 guests (narrators, poets, playwrights, translators, critics) will discuss the relationship that literature develops with human perception and the essential characteristics of writing in our language.
Because the words of the senses are also the verb of the human imagination.
Benengeli, the only literary festival that spans the 5 continents, welcomes you.
