Bar El Chino

The legendary Bar El Chino has more than intoxicating spirits behind its doors. Even in the midst of Argentina’s economic meltdown, here one can find warmth, love, friendship, and most of all, the passion of Tango. El Chino transpires primarily in an establishment that provides the film with its title. Boy Olmi plays Jorge, a regular at the drinking establishment who has been trying for years to make a documentary film about the bar and the people who pass through it. One day another filmmaker named Martina (Jimena de la Torre) enters the place. The two begin a filmmaking partnership that is quite fruitful. They also begin a personal relationship that causes them problems.  Martina’s television documentary means to uncover the bar’s special aura, but when she meets Jorge, a fellow filmmaker whose dreams have been put on hold, she falls under Bar El Chino’s magical spell.

The director, Daniel Burak will present and attend a Q&A session after the screening.
