Young & Beautiful
Young & Beautiful is a documentary that follows four young people who have decided to live outside the predetermined paths set by society. At a crucial moment in their lives, they begin to question their aspirations and look directly at an uncertain future. Through intimate and honest conversations with the director, the Navarrese filmmaker Marina Lameiro, they share doubts, desires, and moments of reflection that together form a sensitive portrait of a generation searching for its own place in the world.
Synopsis:
Poti, Nais, Ione, and Das are young people who have chosen to live on their own terms, but as they approach 30, they are overwhelmed by a deep sense of restlessness: they are still far from becoming the independent, confident, and passionate adults they once dreamed of being. While society pushes them to abandon their “selfish” aspirations, each of them revisits their identity through dialogue. This marks the beginning of an intimate exchange between them and Marina, their friend and the director of this film.
Through the closeness of her camera, Marina accompanies them in the most lucid and fragile moments of their everyday lives: dancing, waking up together, walking through beloved landscapes, crying and laughing while, with a sense of complicity, they search for ways to remain true to themselves. Young & Beautiful is a multifaceted portrait of a generation accused of not wanting to grow up—a generation forced to accept a broken world and a country in crisis, where they are told that the only way to survive is to give up on their dreams.
