Tramuntana (Doc Fortnight at MoMA)
Instituto Cervantes New York is joining the 24th edition of Doc Fortnight (Feb 20 - Mar 7), MoMA's prestigious non-fiction film festival.
This year we are supporting the participation of Catalan filmmaker Martí Madaula with his film Tramuntana, which will be screened on February 23 (with discussion) and February 26.
MoMA's annual international non-fiction film festival celebrates important new discoveries in documentary filmmaking.
Combining short and feature-length films by emerging and established artists, Doc Fortnight highlights the growing ambition and experimentation in the documentary field.
Synopsis: In a remote area of northern Spain, the wind has a name: Tramuntana. Tramuntana takes what it wants: clothes, trees, boats and the people of the landscape who live with the never-ending threat of being swept away by its force. This film is a lyrical portrait of this furious wind, woven from the stories passed down by the locals.
