Cabernet Sauvignon, the classic grape from Bordeaux, was introduced to Spain in the 19th century, but it wasn’t until just two decades ago that a new breed of ambitious, rich, and expensive cabernets made a splash. Some of them follow the classic Bordeaux style, others are made of innovative blends with TempranilloGarnacha, Syrah and even Petit Verdot, and some others let Cabernet Sauvignon go solo. In this tasting we will evaluate the quality of these new and powerful cabs, and compare them with classic examples from Bordeaux, Italy, United States and Australia
