Amster Yard Sounds: Al cantío de un gallo
As part of the Amster Yard Sounds concert series, the Instituto Cervantes of New York, in collaboration with the Cuban Cultural Center of New York, proudly presents “Latino Al Cantío de un Gallo”, a live performance by Yuniel Jiménez on September 5. This concert offers a unique opportunity to experience the vibrant sounds of Cuban tradition through the artistry of one of its most passionate ambassadors. Yuniel Jiménez, known as “El Guajiro”, is a virtuoso of the Cuban Tres and a composer originally from Santa Clara, Cuba. His music blends traditional Cuban son with deep, spiritual, and reflective lyrics, highlighting his faith and strong connection to his cultural roots. Since arriving in New York, Yuniel has shared his musical vision through original compositions that celebrate life, spirituality, and Cuban identity. His authentic style has captivated listeners and salsa dancers around the world, with songs that have gained popularity on social media and international radio stations. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with renowned artists such as Ricardo Arjona, René from Calle 13, and Albita Rodríguez. He has also contributed to productions like the film “Vivo” and the musical “In the Heights”, where he recorded the Cuban Tres. His work stands out for its authenticity, infectious energy, and ability to connect with audiences through emotion and rhythm.
