Ordesa, Manuel Vilas

Ordesa, Manuel Vilas Riverhead Books

The writer Juan José Millás, speaking about the novel, said that "it is the letter from the castaway that we have been waiting for years". This novel is written at times from the heartbreak, and always from the emotion, is the intimate chronicle of the Spain of recent decades, but also a narrative about everything that reminds us that we are vulnerable beings, about the need to get up and move forward when nothing seems possible, when almost all the ties that united us to others have disappeared or we have broken them. And we survive. With this work, translated into more than fifteen languages, Manuel Vilas has established himself as one of the most important writers in Spain today. Ordesa has received numerous awards, including Best Book of the Year 2018, by the cultural supplement Babelia of El País and the Fémina Étranger 2019 award. On Monday, October 31, we will have the author, Manuel Vilas, in dialogue with the Spanish novelist, poet, playwright, and theorist Ana Merino about the English translation of "Ordesa".
