Dance and Diaspora

The social and political recognition of dance still needs persistence, vision and much collective effort. Its dignity and defense, as well as that of its professionals, is the responsibility of a society, which should overcome the romantic vision of dance. It must be aware that the creators who are dedicated to it are organic professionals, whose functions range from research, creation and production to business management.
This project will take place in the Cervantes Institutes of Munich, Stockholm, Frankfurt, New York, Sydney and Utrecht. It involves a series of meetings between choreographers living outside our country and the Spanish dancer and choreographer María Pagés in order to exchange experiences.
In this meeting María Pagés will talk with Ángel Corella who has been principal dancer at the American Ballet Theatre and guest artist with prestigious companies such as The Royal Ballet, Kirov Ballet, New York City Ballet, La Scala and the Australian Ballet. Since July 2014, Corella has been artistic director of the Pennsylvania Ballet.
