The elements of wine: grape variety
The emphasis on grape varieties was the American response to the focus on soils traditionally practiced in Europe. In the United States, and later in many other countries worldwide, wineries put more attention on the grape varieties than on the soils, labeling the wines after them and, as a result provoking the most significant transformation of the wine world in centuries. This change also impacted European regions and brought awareness and necessary research into grape varieties and vines. In this tasting, we will explore the grape varieties' impact in defining the wines' personality.
