Cuban Music: Birth and Blooming (program: #WomenOutsideOfTheBox)
Internationally acclaimed composer and conductor Tania León will explore the development of Cuban music, tracing its Spanish and African roots to the birth of an autochthonous national art, whose rhythms have transcended the island to bear influence worldwide. The well known conductor, founding member and first music director of the Dance Theater of Harlem, will be accompanied by classical pianist Juana Zayas and Iliana Matos acoustic guitar virtuoso, in this performance.
