The Blue Lobster

Widely considered a foundational work of Colombian experimental cinema, The Blue Lobster is a surrealist short film that blends humor, mystery, and a visual language close to collage. Shot in Barranquilla, the film follows the strange arrival of a blue‑tinted lobster that triggers a series of absurd, dreamlike episodes in a small seaside hotel. Its fragmented narrative, expressive use of color and light, and playful tone situate the film within the international avant‑garde movements of the mid‑20th century.
