Relative/Families. Fanzine Project

Relative/Families. Fanzine Project Instituto Cervantes

This activity is part of the LAB Bibliotecas 2022, a library and citizen laboratory project in which a series of prototypes were developed to promote reading in the Instituto Cervantes libraries.

On Friday, June 2, we will launch the prototype for the Library of Instituto Cervantes New York. This is a workshop aimed at mothers and teenage daughters —heritage speakers— in which we will create a collective fanzine of photographs.

The workshop, presented by Adriana Eiroa, professor of Spanish and a specialist in Communication, is designed as an exercise in the reconstruction of family and emotional memories, as well as our identities. Based on the family photographs brought by the participants, we will talk about the life stories contained in the images that will form part of the fanzine. From the Raum Press Studio, the artists Laura Pilar Delgado and Miguel Ângelo Martins will be in charge of the design and editing of the fanzine. Javier Pérez Iglesias, librarian and expert in the promotion of reading, will prepare a selection of readings inspired by the images to be included as an addendum.
