World Book Day
On April 25, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Instituto Cervantes New York will celebrate World Book Day, a festive day with public activities dedicated to reading, creativity, and discovering the library’s collections.
This year’s program features four complementary proposals: a collective braiding workshop linked to the exhibition Aquel Amplex by Venezuelan artist Cassandra Mayela Allen; a Chilean storytelling session dedicated to Gabriela Mistral or another author to be confirmed; a special meeting of the book club on El verano de Cervantes by writer Antonio Muñoz Molina; and a presentation of lesser‑known items from our library, showcasing rare or typically unseen materials and publications. Throughout the day, books and roses will be given to participants while supplies last.
The program is designed to invite the public to explore the center from different perspectives: artistic creation, children’s literature, shared reading, and bibliographic heritage. The book club will be limited to 20 participants with prior registration, while the storytelling session will welcome as many attendees as the auditorium can accommodate (single session). The presentation of collections will take place in the courtyard, weather permitting—without capacity limits—and in case of rain, in the library, with a maximum of 20 participants.
This celebration aims to reinforce the library as a lively, open, and community‑centered space, and to highlight the richness of the Hispanic traditions surrounding World Book Day.
