The elements of wine: place
The place where the vines are planted is considered an essential factor in determining a wine's quality and personality. It is at the heart of the European system of regional appellations, protecting wines deemed different due to the area where their grapes grow. Three critical factors are at play here: the composition of the soil, its drainage capacity, and the vineyard's altitude. In this seminar, we will examine the impact of these factors and taste wines made with the same varieties growing at different altitudes and in different soils, from clay to slate through granite, limestone, and sand.
