In the mood of Tempranillo

So many of Spain’s great red wines are made from Tempranillo that this grape is identified with the country as a whole. However, a look at the wine map shows that with minor exceptions, the best Tempranillo-based wines come from a relatively small strip in northern Spain that stretches from Rioja to Toro, through Ribera del Duero. So one of the best ways to start a new year is to devote the first tasting seminar to the noble, age-worthy, and versatile Tempranillo, Spain's most distinguished black grape, and compare its diverse styles from these famous appellations.
