The 55th edition of New Directors/New Films

The 55th edition of New Directors/New Films, organized by Film at Lincoln Center and the MoMA, will take place from April 8 to 19, 2026, featuring a selection of 24 feature films and 10 short films that bring together some of the boldest voices in contemporary cinema. The festival, renowned for championing new perspectives and formal innovation, presents international premieres and award‑winning works from major festivals around the world, from Sundance and Locarno to Berlin, Venice, and Cannes.

In this edition, the collaboration of the Instituto Cervantes has helped ensure the prominent participation of two Spanish filmmakers, who will present their work directly to New York audiences: Irati Gorostidi Agirretxe, with Aro Berria, and Jaume Claret Muxart, with Extraño río. Their presence enhances the visibility of new Spanish cinema in a major international context and creates a space for dialogue and exchange with both audiences and industry professionals.

The ND/NF lineup once again confirms its commitment to discovering filmmakers who push the boundaries of cinematic language. The participation of Irati Gorostidi Agirretxe and Jaume Claret Muxart, supported by the Instituto Cervantes, strengthens the international projection of emerging Spanish cinema and contributes to deepening cultural ties between Spain and New York’s film community.
