200 Years of Passion: Mexican Contemporary Ceramics

To commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Puebla (5 de mayo), the Talavera Uriarte factory invited 38 artists to create unique pieces of art in Talavera, a type of majolica earthenware. The pieces reflect the current discourse and poetics of Mexico, all the while revealing the impact contemporary creativity can have on one of the most traditional and renowned artisanal handcrafts. The artists who participated in this Project enjoyed absolute creative freedom; they only had to respect the normative rules that guarantee the origin of the Talavera art. The exhibition offers a selection of the best works of the artists and the different artistic tendencies. CLOSING EVENT: MARCH 1ST AT 7 PM
