Cuban Salsa
The Instituto Cervantes of New Delhi in collaboration with the Cuban Embassy will organize a Cuban Salsa workshop. The purpose of the workshop is to introduce Cervantes students to one of the popular Cuban dances, salsa, which has achieved great popularity in India, especially among young people. It will be divided into two sessions, of two hours duration, where participants will be able to learn the basic individual steps, as well as some movements as a couple. -The instructor is the Cuban dancer Indira Mena Hernández, who is a graduate of the National Ballet School of Cuba, and traines under the renowned dancer Ramona de Saa. From 2011 to 2014, she worked at the “Prodanza” Center, Laura Alonso's ballet company, where she participated as a dancer and instructor in various festivals and events organized by the Center. Later, she worked as a dancer in the Moscow Ballet under the direction of Vyacheslav Gordeyev, while she taught salsa, son, danzón and other Cuban folk dance workshops in different dance schools. Currently, she resides in India and works as a teacher at the dance school at the Russian Embassy in Delhi.
