Translations of Kabir's Poetry in the Hispanic World

Kabir, one of the most important poets of bhakti poetry in North India, was introduced to the West by Rabindranath Tagore in 1914-15. Since then, his songs and poems have been translated into Spanish on several occasions. These translations (as well as the context of their reception in both Latin America and Spain), by such prominent figures as Joaquin V. Gonzalez and Carlos Muzzio Sáenz Peña in Argentina, Zenobia Camprubí in Spain, and David Lorenzen in Mexico, will be analyzed in this conference.
