"Life Is A Dream" by Ignacio García Casa de la India

In this conference, the adaptation project of Life Is A Dream, by Calderón de la Barca, will be presented by the theater director Ignacio García, who will be accompanied by other members of his artistic team. In his adaptation of that significant play from the Baroque period, Ignacio García has brought into dialogue two worlds and two very different stage languages: the Indian and the Western, obtaining a surprising result.

Ignacio García (1977) is one of the current greatest experts in theater of the Golden Age. A large part of his theatrical career has been dedicated to staging productions by authors such as Calderón de la Barca, Miguel de Cervantes, Francisco de Quevedo, Antonio Hurtado de Mendoza , Juan del Encina or Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, among others. His approach to the Golden Age repertoire also includes adaptations, workshops, seminars, consulting work in verse, both nationally and internationally, as well as the design of soundtracks for various productions of the National Classical Theater Company of Spain (CNTC) and the National Theater Company of Mexico. From 2017 to 2022, he directed the Almagro Festival, the great rendezvous for classical theater in Spain and Europe.
