Introduction Workshop to Flamenco Dance

Introduction Workshop to Flamenco Dance Gadea San Román Mendiguren

In this three-day workshop taught by Gadea San Román Mendiguren, we will study how to dance with an interpretation based on our own style for all levels. Flamenco allows a unique expressive freedom. The problem with traditional methods is that you learn by imitation and with the aesthetic and formal imposition of the person who teaches. The objective is to dance from a state of calm, connection with the senses, giving authority to the body over the mind. Each session will last three hours. The structure of the workshop is as follows: CONSCIOUS MOVEMENT. A general tune-up of the body. From relaxation and stillness to complete structural mobilization, to generate a connection and listening that allows us to interact with the space. RHYTHMS, STICKS, MARKING AND FOOTWORK. Flamenco dance is a dialogue of the body with singing and music. Each suit allows a different expressive quality. Understanding the different rhythms is basic. Zapatado allows us to direct the rhythm and tempo and create a sound space. CHOREOGRAPHIC SEQUENCES. Combinations of marking, zapateados, fluid movements, stops in presence, listening to guitar and singing, understanding the internal structure of each style. IMPROVISATION. We create a space of freedom and play, of trial and error, of creation. Gadea San Román Mendiguren is trained in classical, contemporary, Aragonese jota and folklore dance, Interpretation, Stage Direction and Music (Solfeo, Choral and Violin) as well as Classical Spanish and Flamenco. She directed the CAFÉ OLE dance theater company, with two shows premiered at the Pradillo Theater ("Otra Mirada Sobre el Flamenco"), "Tres de Azúcar" (1997) and "...Y Pasa la Vida" (2003), fruit of years of maturity and with a profound message about the individual in an attempt to relate with herself and the collective. Traveling with her profession, she taught the CONSCIOUS FLAMENCO method in Argentina (Rosario and Buenos Aires), Italy (Rome), Greece (Athens) India (Cervantes Institute of New Delhi and in Agama Yoga, Bahgsu, Dharamsala).
