European Union Film Festival

European Union Film Festival European Union Film Festival

The European Union Film Festival (EUFF), one of the flagship cultural outreach events of EU Delegation, is held annually in India and organized in collaboration with the embassies, consulates, and cultural institutes of the Member states. This cooperation is the result of the recognition of cultural diplomacy as an important tool for promoting mutual understanding, dialogue, peacebuilding, and inclusive development, which are key priorities for the Commission. Its aim is to enhance EU-India people-to-people and artistic ties within the framework of the EU-India Strategic Partnership, and to promote diversity through international cultural relations, which is an integral part of the EU's role as a global actor. The Festival also aims to use cinema as a key driver for dialogue, especially in the current situation where culture and creativity have been severely affected but remain more relevant than ever.

The EUFF is a great public diplomacy tool to promote the image of a creative Europe, as well as to foster mutual understanding between cultures. It creates cultural exchanges on values prevalent in the culture of the EU such as diversity, inclusivity, LGBTQ+ rights, human rights and more. This festival celebrates the richness and diversity of European cinema, featuring award-winning films from Member States. It offers a ‘window to Europe’ to the audience, demonstrating cinema’s ability to transcend boundaries and foster shared experiences. Over the years, EUFF has established itself as a must-visit destination for cinephiles eager to experience the finest of contemporary European cinema.

Celebrating its 30th edition this year, the festival will screen a variety of films from each EU Member State, displaying contemporary & acclaimed films from the European cine circuit. Apart from film screenings, the festival also hosts various side events, such as workshops, masterclasses, and panel discussions with European filmmakers/actors/ scriptwriters and cine experts, in order to promote engaging cultural exchange.
