In the Time of the Butterflies
In collaboration with the Embassy of the Dominican Republic in India, Instituto Cervantes New Delhi will screen the film “In the Time of the Butterflies” directed by Mariano Barroso, on occasion of International Day Against Violence Towards Women. The film, based on the novel by Dominican – North American author Julia Alvarez, is inspired by the true story of the three Mirabal sisters, assassinated in 1960 due to their participation in the clandestine political movement that tried to bring an end to three decades of General Rafael Leonidas Trujillo’s dictatorship in the Dominican Republic.
