The Major

The Major is a Cuban feature film made in 2018, which is inspired by the life of the Major General of the Mambi army in the Camagüey region, Ignacio Agramonte y Loynaz, as well as that of his wife Amalia Simoni. The film will address many aspects of the intense life of the "Paladin of Shame" Ignacio Agramonte y Loynaz (1841-1873), his legendary love with Amalia Simoni (1842-1918) and the conflicts that this famous Cuban patriot faced. Agramonte went to war newly married at the age of 27 and died in combat at the age of 32, leaving behind, more than a family and his life, essential pages of the history of Cuba and even a unique name: the one that identifies the natives of Camagüey, as agramontines.
