Argentine Cinema in New Delhi

The New Delhi centre, in collaboration with the Embassy of Argentina, will organise a round table and screenings of the iconic films “Thinking of him” and “After the end”, directed by Pablo César, which will take place on 9th and 10th October 2024 at the Instituto Cervantes premises. The relationship between the Hispanic world and India has a common link in poetry. Zenobia Camprubí's dedication to translation made it possible for Juan Ramón Jiménez to become acquainted with the work of the Indian poet Rabindranath Tagore from a very early age. Thanks to her, the work of the Bengali poet, winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1913, became known in Spain and Latin America. Likewise, the fascinating film "Thinking of Him", which recreates the encounters between Tagore and the famous Argentine writer Victoria Ocampo based on the story of their complicated relationship, shows a very important facet in the life of the great Indian poet, whose work stands out for its universal and humanistic values. After the screening there will be a round table moderated by Murtaza Ali (film critic) and featuring the Director of both films Pablo César, the Hispanist Prof. Shyama Prasad Ganguly (one of the pioneers of Hispanic studies in India who has done important work on the reception of Tagore in Spain and in the Hispanic world), the Administrator of Instituto Cervantes, Alejandro Palma Allepuz, and the Head of the Consular Section of the Argentine Embassy in New Delhi, Marcelo Boffi. The next day will be the screening of the second film "After the end" by the same Director
