Rock Art in India

Rock Art in India Centre d'Estudis Contestans

The Center d'Estudis Contestans (CEC) commemorates its 50th anniversary with a little bibliographic jewel that we present today: India. Rock Art and Tribal life at the sources of the Betwa River, by the Alicante researchers Pere Ferrer Marset, Amparo Martí Soler and José Elías Esteve Moltó, and the Indians Kalyan K. Chakravarty, Rahas K. Mohanty and Narayan Vyas.

The book contains the study and cataloging of the rock art sets found at the sources of the Betwa River, in the state of Madhya Pradesh, and which were the subject of research by the authors in two campaigns between 2019 and 2020.
The work, which contains text as well as numerous illustrations and photographs, has been structured as an archaeological-ethnographic document of the entire process of research, cataloging, and distribution of these cave assemblages, concluding with an ethnographic and ethnological vision of the ancestral customs of the tribes that currently inhabit this territory located in the heart of India.
