Juan Carlos Abril
This lecture by Juan Carlos Abril, poet and literary critic, will open the programme which will take place throughout 2025 on the occassion of the 100th Birth Anniversary of the renowned poet Ángel González.
Juan Carlos Abril (Los Villares, Jaén, España, 1974) holds a PhD in Spanish Literature by the University of Granada, where he works as Professor. He has published five collections of poems: Un intruso nos somete (1997), El laberinto azul (2001), Crisis (2007), En busca de una pausa (2018) and Poesía reunida (1997-2023) (2024). His works have been featured in Mexico, Costa Rica, Argentina, Honduras, Ecuador, Guatemala and Peru. He has been the editor of the anthology Deshabitados (2008), among others, and coordinated the publication Gramáticas del fragmento. Estudios sobre poesía española para el siglo XXI (2011), and its extended version Modos de la lírica española. Perspectivas para una promoción poética (2023). Juan Carlos Abril has also translated authors such as Pasolini, Marinetti, Salgari, Michaux among others.
