The Holy Innocents
[Ganesh PC, Televisión Española]The adaptation of Miguel Delibes' novel of the same name is one of the outstanding examples of the cinematographic policies of the 80s, which sought new readings on the eternal dialogue between film and book in order to highlight the main themes and concerns of the Spanish culture. This Mario Camus film had an immediate endorsement at the Cannes Film Festival, with the Ex Aequo Award for the two main actors, Alfredo Landa and Paco Rabal. It tells story of the family of Paco "the Short", who lives in an Extremaduran farmhouse at the service of a rich family of landowners. It depicts a story of a rural Spain, patrimonial and wild which, unfortunatel, dates not so far back in time.
