The Inhabited Character
An autobiographical writing workshop led and guided by writer Jorge Gonzalvo. In this workshop, participants will search—through memories, forgotten moments, and desires—for the character they carry within themselves. Characters have desires; they want to achieve something, they dream of other characters, other places, even other lives. They also have memories, pathways that connect us to the past, to childhood, to who we used to be and who, perhaps, we will no longer be. Or maybe we will. We will explore some texts that will show us the way: Gloria Fuertes, Manuel Vicent, among others. Furthermore, in this session participants will discover that the fear of the blank page is overcome by using words—that one word leads to another, and that one to the next. And that’s how we say goodbye to the blank page and to the struggle of writing when we don’t know what to write about.
