1976

The story takes place in 1976 in Chile during the dictatorship of Pinochet. A doctor's wife named Carmen is drawn into sheltering a political agitator during the time of Chile's dictatorship. Carmen is persuaded by her friend, Padre Sanchez, to help care for the wounded fugitive as a gesture of Christian charity rather than political solidarity. But it is a big step, and it leads her down a dangerous path.
