Raimunda, played by the beautiful Penelope Cruz, has a hard life. Her husband is a mean drunk, while she and the couple's teenage daughter, Paula, live in fear of him. Paula stabs her drunken father in self defense, leaving Raimunda with no choice but to cover up the murder. Soon, Raimunda's mother appears out of nowhere to further complicate the lives of both Raimunda and her sister, Paula's aunt. Great performances and a solid story make the Oscar-nominated Volver entertaining viewing.
