Utopolis Manchester at Cervantes Institute

Instituto Cervantes in Manchester will collaborate on the 6th Manchester International Festival (MIF). The 6th biennial of this festival takes place from the 4th to the 21st of July with numerous cultural events: exhibitions, concerts, performances, dance, etc.

For over ten years MIF has been one of the most important contemporary art festivals in Europe with renowned artists such as Björk taking part. This year Yoko Ono opens the festival with a performance and a discourse on peace.

Instituto Cervantes will take part in the world premiere of the Utopolis Manchester initiative. Through a series of recordings of a guest speaker and center staff, the history of the building, its relevance in the daily life of Mancunian society and the presence of Spanish culture in the city, will be revealed. The recordings will be played from the 10th to 13th of July in the centre's events hall, accompanied by a guest artist who will explain the creative process and the narrative discourse.
