Peru: Pirulí en el Zoo (Pirulí at the Zoo), by Isabel Córdova Rosas Nick Chaffe

Instituto Cervantes Manchester and Leeds organise Tales from Latin America, a Storytelling to promote and encourage reading among young people with the best stories by Latin American authors. An ideal opportunity to learn about literature in Spanish and get to know other worlds through literature.

In September, we read the Peruvian story of Pirulí en el Zoo, by Peruvian writer Isabel Córdova Rosas, which tells how the little fox Pirulí gets lost from his mother when he enters a toy shop. And then there is no way he can find her again. Chasing a similar lady, he ends up at the zoo. There, he is about to be eaten by lions and crocodiles. No matter how hard he asks, he still can't find her. No one has ever seen such a wonderful, distinguished, elegant little fox as the one described by Pirulí. At last, Pirulí's mother appears, and they can both return home in peace, where their impatient father is waiting for them.
