Short Films Showcase "La Mirada Tabú"

Short Films Showcase "La Mirada Tabú" Vicky Calavia

The Instituto Cervantes in Manchester presents a selection of short films from the 11th edition of the La Mirada Tabú International Short Film Festival.

Founded in 2012, the La Mirada Tabú International Film Festival is a unique event worldwide thanks to its theme. Its aim is to offer a broad and open-minded perspective on reality, inviting artists and creators to explore the concept of “taboo” from viewpoints as diverse and multifaceted as human thought itself. Humour, drama, realism, dreamlike visions… all have a place in this approach that is always creative and respectful of all ways of thinking, being, and living.

This event includes a screening of award-winning short films from the latest edition of the festival, held in 2024. Six works of varied styles and narratives that tackle current issues, encouraging reflection, debate, and a questioning of our own most intimate taboos.

Following the screening, there will be a conversation between Vicky Calavia, the festival’s director, and Santiago Fouz, Professor at Durham University.
