Mestisa & Free Range Choir: Misa Criolla

Mestisa & Free Range Choir: Misa Criolla desconocido

Misa Criolla is the most famous work of the Argentine composer Ariel Ramírez, and it was composed in 1964 as one of the first masses in Spanish. Ramírez was fascinated with the music of the gauchos and Andean people, so he not only used the language of his country but also the musical rhythms of Argentina, partly played by local instruments such as charango, sikus, bombos, quenas and guitar.

Latin American Folk music group Mestisa: Ana Luisa Muñoz (vocals, guitar, cuatro) Barbara Kemp (vocals, guitar, charango) and Tenley Martin (marimba, bombo, cajon, percussion) will be joined by the Free Range Choir directed by Frances Berstein ( 8 sopranos, 8 altos, 6 tenors and 6 basses) to perform this beautiful composition for your pleasure. Before Misa Criolla begins, Mestisa will treat you to a set of traditional Villancicos (Christmas carols) from Latin America.
