Instituto Cervantes in Manchester organises "Cinema Days: learn Spanish with cinema", a series of study sessions for students of Spanish and film lovers with the teacher Ana Valbuena, with whom those attending will be able to learn and enjoy the best films in Spanish.

Following an introduction in accessible Spanish and a full screening of Mar adentro (Alejandro Amenábar, 2004), with English subtitles, attendees will be able to practise their Spanish language skills using a specially designed study pack on film's main topics.

A conversational level in Spanish is recommended.

Synopsis

Ramón has spent almost thirty years lying in bed cared for by his family. Hisonly window on the world is that of his bedroom next to the sea on which heoften travelled and where he suffered the accident which cut short his youth.The arrival of two women changes his life. Julia, a lawyer wants to support hisfight and Rosa, a neighbour in the village tries to convince him that living isworthwhile. Ramón’s bright personality finally captivates both of them andwill make them question, like never before, the principles which govern theirlives. He knows that only the person who truly loves him will help him to makehis last journey.
