Reading Luis Cernuda
Instituto Cervantes Manchester and Leeds Poetry's Club continue in autumn by reading the Spanish poet Luis Cernuda, a prominent figure of the Generation of '27. Exiled after the Spanish Civil War, he lived in the UK until 1947 and later moved to US and Mexico. Cernuda's poetry shows a continual process of stripping away artifice and fashionable stylistic traits or mannerisms, aware of the moment in which he had to live.
